Formic is a venture-backed startup in focused on unlocking robotic automation for large, meaningful markets and labor-starved industries such as food and beverage, advanced manufacturing and other industrial settings. We combine financial innovation with a firm understanding of what robotics are capable of, to enable manufacturing customers to scale up their manufacturing capacity quickly and with minimal risk. We plan to deploy $100m of automation solutions into the manufacturing industry over the next 18 months.

Role summary

This position is an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Sales Manager to work with a team of extraordinarily impressive, bright, focused, and motivated professionals in an environment that encourages and rewards out of the box creativity and entrepreneurial drive.

The successful candidate will leverage an already established market footprint and will develop and implement a sales strategy for the addressable market (small to medium sized factories) in the assigned territory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Sales Manager will execute and innovate on our sales processes, including prospecting, lead generation/qualification/follow-up, quote preparation, negotiation and order closing focusing on maximizing value for Formic. The most important skill necessary for this role will be shepherding potential customers through the process and closing deals.

  • Call on end-users and search for the best point of contact to close sales
  • Work alongside Formic application engineers to drive proof of concept development and application design for project qualification
  • Create persuasive collateral and sales materials for customer conversations.
  • Develop and build relationships with executives and decision makers in customers.
  • Present monthly business reviews to the Formic senior leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Sales professionals that are accountable and behavior-driven to achieve numbers
  • Ability to build and maintain high quality relationships with leadership teams of manufacturers
  • Ability to build a territory through proactive prospecting and lead generation
  • Keep Control of the varying sale cycle and establish expectations at all times

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, technical/engineering focus preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of selling experience to the Food & Beverage manufacturing industry OR packaging industry OR metal fabrication and machining industry.
  • Deep existing relationships in the manufacturing space, selling $1m+ / year of equipment

Compensation:

  • Base salary + meaningful commissions (expected 60% base salary, 40% On-Target Earnings) with generous multipliers for exceeding quotas. No earning cap.
